POLICE, fire and ambulance crews were at the scene of a crash on Yarm Road in Darlington on Friday night.
About ten police cars, two fire engines and two ambulances were present at the crash between a car and a van.
Yarm Road was closed both ways between the Hundens Lane traffic light junction and Cobden Street.
Driver may have suffered medical episode
Police at the scene were unable to clarify the nature of the crash, but it is believed at least one person was taken to hospital.
The van ended up on the pavement with damage to its rear end, while the car had extensive damage to its front.
The crash happened at around 6pm.
