A COLLECTION of new short stories have been published for the 2018 Ryedale Book Festival.
The short story contest was launched earlier this year as a collaboration between the Ryedale Book Festival and Blackthorn press and received more than 130 entries from writers across the UK.
Ten were short-listed by a panel of local judges and now feature in the anthology, edited by Alan Avery.
The final three prize winners will be chosen by author, critic and journalist Chris Power. They will be announced at a special event on Saturday, September 22 at The Talbot Hotel in Malton at 4.30pm. There are three cash prizes to be awarded, sponsored by Blackthorn Press, who have published the collection of stories.
Tickets cost £5, or £10 to include a copy of Ten Short Stories.
The finalists are: Patrick Balshaw, Tom Bryan, Alan Bryant, Paul B. Cohen, Aoife Inman, Barbara Murray, Joanne Preston, Stephen Edward Reid, Stephen Wade and Glenda Young.
Tickets for this event and other festival events are available from the website; ryedalebookfestival.com
