FRIENDS from 'across the Pond' paid a trip to County Durham last week.
Seattle Friendship Force visited the region as part of a cultural trip through the cultural organisation which promotes "understanding, cultural education and citizen diplomacy through homestay journeys".
The 14 members were received by the County Durham group and enjoyed trips to popular spots such as Durham Cathedral, Raby Castle and even further afield with day trips to Whitby and the Lake District.
And on Friday, the group enjoyed a visit to Binchester Roman Fort, near Bishop Auckland, where they donated £100 to the site.
The trip took a year to organise and a return invitation for the County Durham group has already been extended.
President of the Seattle group, Bart Wherritt, said members had "thoroughly enjoyed their stay".
Host coordinator, Cynthia Scott, said it had been a pleasure to host the group.
