MOTORISTS were shocked this evening to see a man urinating from a bridge onto cars passing below.
The man was spotted on a bridge over the A66(M), the final bridge before the entry to the southbound A1, urinating onto cars travelling on the Darlington-bound carriageway.
The incident happened at just after 6.50pm. The man, who was stood on Moor Lane, between Cleasby and Newton Morrell, yards from a black coupe-style vehicle, was described as white, with blond hair and wearing a grey T-shirt.
After the incident he was seen walking back to his car. He then drove off towards Newton Morrell.
One motorist who witnessed the incident said: "It was just an astonishing sight. It was just a stream of urine arcing down from the bridge onto all those cars."
He added: "I've heard of people throwing stones and rocks off the bridge and that was my first thought when I saw him.
"When I saw he was urinating, I couldn't believe it. It must have been a huge shock to those driving at 70mph to have been suddenly hit with a liquid.
"Given the fact they had been coming from the opposite direction and the man was stood on the Darlington side of the bridge, it's unlikely that they have known what had hit their vehicles.
"I think, given the speeds of the cars, it could well have caused a serious accident."
