PEOPLE in County Durham are being reminded they need to be registered to vote to have a say in local elections this May.
County and parish council elections are due to take place on Thursday, May 4.
Poll cards will be delivered to residents between Friday, March 31 and Monday, April 3.
Anyone currently listed on the electoral register and eligible to vote in this election will receive a poll card providing details of their allocated polling station.
Anyone who is not registered is encouraged to register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote by Thursday, April 13.
People who are listed on the electoral register can request a postal or proxy vote. The deadline for postal vote applications is 5pm on Tuesday, April 18 and for proxy vote applications is 5pm on Tuesday, April, 25.
