A VAN was destroyed after it caught fire on the A19 on Tuesday morning.
Police and fire services were called to the scene of the van blaze at 7.42am near A1046 Haverton Hill Road (Portrack Interchange).
The van was completely destroyed in the fire but the driver managed to escape unhurt.
The incident, which blocked one lane of the southbound carriageway, caused major delays during rush hour.
