A LARGE barn which caught fire this morning (Friday, October 7) in North Yorkshire is expected to take several days to burn itself out.
The farm building, situated between Malton and Menethorpe, was about 20 square metres and filled with oil seed rape and round straw bales.
Fire crews were called to the scene at 7.50am. A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said due to the remoteness of the barn and the scale of the fire they took the decision to allow it to burn itself out. Smoke from the site could been seen for several miles.
Crews will stay on site to keep an eye on the fire and ensure the area is safe.
