TWENTY firefighters tackled a barn fire on Monday morning.
Four crews were at the scene of the blaze at Brignall, between Richmond and Barnard Castle.
A spokesman for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said around 50 tonnes of baled hay was on fire.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service Control received a report at 5.45am.
Four fire appliances were deployed to the incident; two from Barnard Castle Fire Station, one from Darlington Fire Station and one from Bishop Auckland Fire Station.
The spokesman said: "Firefighters used two water jets and a thermal imaging camera as they tackled the fire.
"With the fire under control crews are currently still at the scene to dampen down and ensure the fire is completely extinguished."
