AN engineering firm has struck a Chinese deal.
Amec, which runs its European headquarters from Darlington, has announced a memorandum of understanding with China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) to work on the civil nuclear sector in the UK and China.
Clive White, Amec’s Clean Energy Europe Business president, said: “This is the first stage in what we hope will be a long-term relationship between British and Chinese companies in the field of nuclear energy.
“We will work together on new build programmes and on planning and strategy development for decommissioning nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities in China under the guidance of the Chinese government.”
The deal was announced as the UK Government revealed it was preparing to sign commercial deals with China worth more than £2.4bn.
