AN animal charity is appealing to dog lovers across the region this Valentine’s Day to offer homes to a handful of dogs who are craving human company.
While many people will be exchanging cards, gifts and flowers, Dogs Trust Darlington will be asking the public to extend the spirit of the day to canines.
Staff at the centre, in Sadberge, have put out the appeal in the hope that seven of their dogs who are often overlooked because they find it difficult to get on with other dogs will find the human company they are looking for.
Centre manager Sue Embleton said: “When a dog finds the kennel environment difficult, this often manifests itself in their behaviour and they tend not to show their best side to the people looking to re-home.
“We wanted to give these lovely dogs a chance to shine and hopefully find them the homes they deserve. They all love people so will suit someone who is around for most of the day.”
The dogs looking to be rehomed are:
• Loki, two, a lurcher.
• Mally, one a Patterdale terrier.
• Jade, 11-year-old, German shepherd.
• Jed, seven, a lurcher.
• Hera, seven, a Belgian shepherd.
• Buddy, one, a collie cross.
• Murphy, seven, a Doberman.
