A VILLAGE Post Office is to be refurbished and its opening hours extended.
Langley Park Post Office, on Quebec Street, is to be modernised, leaving one traditional, screened serving point and two new open-plan positions.
The new opening hours will be 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, giving customers an extra five hours of service on Saturday afternoons.
The branch will close for the refurbishment at 12.30pm on Friday, February 14, reopening at 1pm on Monday, February 24.
During this time, customers are advised to use Post Offices in Witton Gilbert or Ushaw Moor.
Post Office area manager Anne Clark said: “We understand how important Post Office services are to the people of Durham and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches and this investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
