TRAVELLERS are set to benefit from an improved and enlarged place to stay in North Yorkshire.
The Tara Park travellers site on the outskirts of Malton is the only one in the Ryedale district and has been completely refurbished.
It has been extended to include facilities for another seven families and the original 13 pitches having been upgraded with new kitchen and bathroom facilities.
Funding for the project has come from the Homes and Communities Agency with support from Ryedale District Council and Yorkshire Housing.
Council leader Linda Cowling said: “Ryedale has a statutory duty to provide accommodation for travellers.
“Tara Park is a well run site and the upgrade and expansion of the site well meets the needs of the Ryedale area and ensures that the district meets its target for provision of these facilities.”
