A VILLAGE post office is to move to new premises with longer opening hours.
From next month, Dipton post office will move from its existing premises in Co-operative Terrace West across the road to its new home in The Hungry Caterpillar, a family-run greengrocers, in Co-operative Terrace East.
The move, part of a wide-ranging modernisation of the Post Office network, follows a six-week public consultation exercise.
The old branch will close on Wednesday, October 16 at 1pm, with the new premises opening 24 hours later.
Opening hours at the new location will be from 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, meaning the new branch will be open for an extra 17 hours each week.
Post Office Regional Network Manager for Scotland and Northern England Suzanne Richardson said: "We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Dipton and we are confident that this new modern Post Office will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future."
