A SHORT documentary tracing the last steps of a young man whose body was found on a North-East farm 13 years ago has gone online.

The video looking into the death of Mark Corley, who was killed in a suspected gangland shooting 13 years ago, raises questions about whether the people involved in his death had in depth knowledge of the local area.

The 23-year-old, from Lincolnshire, was found in a ditch at a farm near Bolam, outside Darlington, in December 2000, five months after he went missing.

No-one has been convicted in connection to his death.

The YouTube video, entitled 48hrs, was filmed by an unidentified man and shows the route taken by Mr Corley’s killers from the B6275 to the ditch where he was eventually found.

The 12 minute video has won the support of Mark’s father, Tony Corley, who has fought a 13 year battle for justice for his son.

During the video, which is shot with a handheld camera, the narrator questions how the people who killed Mark knew there was a ditch along the bridleway and claims they must have been working with someone with local knowledge.

The narrator said: “Why was Mark brought all this way from Grantham [his hometown] to a bridleway situated between two farms? Late at night it could have provoked suspicions of cattle rustling. Why stop here?”

Later, while filming the ditch where Mark’s body was found by farm workers, the narrator adds: “Today this ditch is overgrown, but how did you know three fields over that this place existed?

“It would appear that where the body was placed, it was placed by someone who had local knowledge of the area.”

Tony Corley, who now lives in Leicestershire, said he hoped the video would jog people’s memories.

He said: “Somebody up there knew that Mark was going to be lured up there. I’m not going to back down and I’m not going to pack this in.

“The video is powerful viewing and it speaks louder than words. It’s not pointing the finger but I want to smoke out the people that did this to my son.”
