A POST office is to close for a week to undergo a major makeover.
Wingate Lane Post Office, in Wheatley Hill, is to be refurbished and will offer much longer opening hours when it reopens to customers.
The new-look open plan branch will be open from 8am to 10pm, seven days a week.
The branch will close for refurbishment at 5.30pm on September 12 and the modernised branch will reopen to customers at 1pm on September 19.
Customers are advised to use alternative branches in Granville Terrace, in Wheatley Hill, or Stanley Terrace, in Thornley for the duration of work.
Post Office Regional Network Manager for Scotland and Northern England Suzanne Richardson said: "We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in the Wingate Lane area and we are confident that the Post Office local service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future."
