A VILLAGE evacuated during a gas scare earlier today has now been given the all-clear.
Villagers were allowed back into their homes in Summerbridge, near Harrogate, shortly before 2pm today.
The tiny community, on the River Nidd, was evacuated shortly after 11.30am when workmen down a manhole noticed a small of gas near a heat source.
As well as evacuating the village, the emergency services stopped all traffic from running through and set up a cordon around the area.
However, gas engineers have since been able to stop the leak and the residents have now been allowed to return to their homes and the roads have been re-opened.
