A GAMBLING addict who drove around Darlington stealing garden ornaments has been sentenced to 112 hours of unpaid work. Robert Harker, 30, of Forest Moor Road, appeared before magistrates in the town on Thursday (May 2) and admitted five counts of theft. The offences took place in various locations around the town in February. Harker’s solicitor Jonathan Harley said the offences arose as a result of the gambling addiction. Magistrates urged him to seek help from addiction charity Neca.
