THE Duke of Edinburgh is to visit the North-East tomorrow (Wednesday, April 24).
Prince Philip will begin a short visit by opening a Royal Garden at Langley Park Primary School, in Langley Park, County Durham.
The Duke will see the work of volunteers and children in creating the garden and visit some classrooms to see lessons in action.
Later, he will officially open Glendene Arts Academy, in Easington Colliery, east Durham.
The academy was paid for under Building Schools for the Future.
The Duke will tour the new facilities and unveil a plaque.
Principal Eric Baker said: “We are proud to be welcoming His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to open our academy today.
“It is a great honour and it will be a day that will be remembered by everyone at Glendene as well as in the local community.”
This morning the Duke, 91, was visiting Sandhurst, in Berkshire.
