A FORMER miner is to display his artwork featuring images from the coalmining industry at a railway museum.
Derek Slater is to show off his work in the Exhibition of Coal Mining Paintings display at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon.
A former worker in coal mining industry at Mainsforth Colliery, near Ferryhill, he has also taught art on a part-time basis.
His industrial-themed exhibition will explore mining and the experience of coal miners.
Sarah Towers, of the museum, said: “They are lovely pictures on an industrial North-East theme.
“We’re very excited about having them on display and we hope that they prove to be very popular with visitors.”
The exhibition runs in the museum’s Collection building from today (April 22) until May 20 with doors open daily between 10am and 4pm with free entry. Details from 01388-777999.
