A MOTORCYCLING enthusiast, who served in the forces for ten years, is seeking fellow adrenaline junkies to join him for a sponsored skydive in aid of the RAF Association Wings Appeal.
Alan Gardner, of Trimdon Village, near Sedgefield, has already raised thousands of pounds for forces charities by touring the country on his customised Suzuki Bandit 1250cc motorcycle.
And now the former RAF airman and his team of fundraising bikers, the Veteran Bandits, are taking their fundraising efforts to a whole new level in a bid to raise £5,000 for a cause close to their hearts.
The team are organising a tandem skydiving event at the Skydive Academy at Shotton Airfield, near Peterlee, on May 4.
All money raised will go to the RAFA Wings Appeal, which supports members of the RAF, past and present, and their families.
“RAFA celebrates its 70th anniversary this year so we wanted to do something for the appeal,” said Mr Gardner, who served in the first Gulf War.
“Whilst we are limiting places to 50 if we get more, we’ll just have to put on a second day and that would be brilliant.”
