star of the acclaimed BBC 4 documentaries Rich Hall’s California Stars, Rich Hall’s You Can Go To Hell, I’m Going To Texas and Rich Hall’s Inventing the Indian, comes to Tyne Theatre and Opera House on Thursday, September 29.

His grouchy, deadpan style has established him as a master of absurdist irony and the king of rapid-fire wit. The award-winning Montana native renowned for his expertly crafted tirades and quick fire banter with audiences and delightful musical sequences has earned a Perrier (Edinburgh Comedy Festival) Award and a Barry (Melbourne International Comedy Festival) Award.

Hall has also become well-known for his television and radio work. Notable UK appearances include regular appearances on Very British Problems (Channel 4), Stand Up For The Week (Channel 4), QI (BBC1/2), Live At The Apollo (BBC1), Channel 4’s Comedy Gala Live At The O2, Have I Got News For You (BBC1), Rich Hall’s Cattle Drive (BBC4), Rich Hall’s Gone Fishing (BBC4), Otis Lee Crenshaw – London Not Tennessee (BBC2) and Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC2).

His scripts for The David Letterman Show won two Emmys and Hall is the inspiration behind Matt Groening’s character Moe Szyslak from The Simpsons. Hall has released three books, Magnificent Bastards, I Blame Society and Things Snowballs, all by Abacus Books and two comedy DVDs in 2001 and 2009 (Universal Pictures UK).
