A STORAGE company is targeting growth in the North-East after overhauling the former offices of an engineering company.
Dainton Self Storage has moved into the old Amec site, off Yarm Road, in Darlington, and is spending £500,000 to refurbish the building.
Bosses say the venture will deliver storage sites and office space, supporting a number of jobs.
The three-storey site is due to open in August.
The firm is predominantly based in the West Country, with storage areas in Plymouth, Exeter and Torquay.
However, Paul Maddicott, Dainton managing director, said Darlington could be the catalyst for growth in the North-East.
He added: “We are really excited about opening the site.
“Our other sites are mainly concentrated in the West Country, but Darlington appears to be a great place to invest.
“We shall monitor its growth with great interest as it will help us to understand the basis of our wish to expand further throughout the North East.”
