A Yarm man is fulfilling a lifelong dream by launching his own independent and family run funeral service on Teesside.

After a twenty-five year career which started on Teesside, before taking in senior operations working for the Co-operative Funeralcare, David Knowles is putting his years of experience into practice by launching David Knowles Funeral Service.

Operating from the newly built Mandale Park in Eaglescliffe, the business will serve communities across Teesside, including Yarm, Eaglescliffe, Ingleby Barwick, Stockton and Thornaby.

David, aged 43, said: “ Becoming a Funeral Director might seem like a strange career choice, but it’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was young. I’ve lived in and around Yarm all of my life and have always known that when the time came I wanted to have my own business here.

“I have worked in the funeral profession for the last 25 years have experienced almost everything you can within it, working for both independent and large corporate providers. The one constant across all of my time in the profession has been my passion and drive to support families and our communities through the hardest times of their lives. It’s something that is very important to me.

"Although the Funeral profession is not currently regulated, my years of experience and dedication to providing the upmost respect and dignity for those I care for has driven me to create a Funeral Home and service that is ready for future regulation and I welcome anyone who wants to come and have a look around”.

The business provides families with a range of modern and traditional funeral options ranging from church services through to non-religious, natural funerals and direct cremation and burials.

David added, “Over the last 25 years, I have been privileged to care for thousands of families. Families trust me with their most precious loved one and I only get one chance to ensure their funeral is perfect – no matter what approach families wish to take.

“The tiny details are vitally important to people can make all the difference to a family who only have one chance to say goodbye to their loved one. I understand that every detail matters even the smallest gesture - the little things don’t mean a lot, they mean everything.”
