Norton High Street, Stockton reopens after works and delays

The closure on the southern end of Norton High Street, Stockton, which began on Tuesday (April 2), has now come to an end after the road reopened on Monday (May 13).

The road had been closed while drainage work, included in the improvement plans, was carried out.

The road’s reopening was pushed back until mid-May after further issues were found during the works.

It has now reopened between Canteen & Cocktails and the new junction.

Previously, Steven Garrigan, Divisional Director at Esh Construction, said: "We are delighted to bring our expertise to this project which will play an important role in improving Norton High Street for residents, businesses and visitors.

"Combined with the Stockton Waterfront project that we are also delivering, it is an exciting time as a North East contractor to be involved in the transformation programme underway across the borough."

Final surfacing works for the project will take place in the summer.

The council have said the works will see high-quality, safe and accessible public spaces added to the area.
