Five County Durham drivers have been fined in court this week for speeding offences. 

The drivers, who appeared at Peterlee Magistrates' Court, have been fined, with some of them disqualified for their offences.

Five County Durham speeders fined heavily in court this week:

Jason Thompson, 47, of The Coppice, Newton Aycliffe, Durham, was found guilty of speeding on the A1(M) between J61 Bowburn and J60 Bradbury on October 6, 2023.

He was fined £220, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88, and ordered to pay costs of £90. His driving record was also endorsed with 3 points.

Clair Jenny Hall, 44, of Station Road North, Murton, Seaham, Durham, admitted exceeding the 50 mph speed limit on the A690 West Rainton on October 09, 2023.

She was fined £138, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £55, and ordered to pay costs of £90. Her driving record was also endorsed with 3 points.

Laighton Robert Smith, 31, of North View, Easington Lane, Houghton Le Spring, admitted to speeding on the B1283 Hall Walks on November 21, 2022.

He was fined £90, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £36, and ordered to pay costs of £90. He was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving license for 6 months due to repeat offending.

Michael Barnett, 35, of Rosebay Close, Shotton Colliery, Durham, admitted to speeding on C15, Station Road, Shotton Colliery on October 04, 2023.

He was fined £176, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £70, and ordered to pay costs of £90. His driving record was also endorsed with 3 points.

Liam Bull, 38, of Kings Court, Front Street, Pelton, Chester Le Street, was found guilty of exceeding the 50 mph on the A167 Hermitage to Plawsworth on October 2, 2023.

He was fined £220, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £88, and ordered to pay costs of £90. His driving record was also endorsed with 3 points.
